On August 4th, Tom van Woudenberg will host a TeachBooks workshop a Griffith University in Gold Coast, Australia.
Are you interested in creating your online teaching material in the form of an online TeachBook? Have you seen other online educational resources and are ready to dive deeper? This hands-on workshop will guide you through the process of creating and using online materials in your teaching. The TeachBooks team has helped dozens of teachers create their own online books, even those without prior programming experience!
Tom van Woudenberg uses TeachBooks in most of his courses at Delft University of Technology, examples include:
- MUDE Textbook: Modelling, Uncertainty, and Data for Engineers, taken by all first year students in the MSc degree programs Earth Climate and Technology (EC&T), Environmental Engineering (EE) and Civil Engineering (CE).
- BSc course on statically indeterminate structures
- MSc course on the matrix method for statics
- Student research project on Macaulay’s method
What you will learn:
- How are TeachBooks used in teaching statics, mechanics of materials and computational mechanics at Delft University of Technology
- The benefits of open materials in teaching and collaborative development using git
- Practical TeachBooks tools and workflow for collaboratively creating your online teaching materials
- Tips for integrating interactive learning materials effectively into your teaching
- How a support service is being set up at TU Delft for these online materials
